No Zune, New Windows Phone Desktop App for Windows Phone 8

imageRecently I got chance to use my first Windows Phone 8 device, when I was trying to upload my pictures and music by connecting my device to Zune I was not able to see the normal interface which asks to connect the device and authenticate by providing our pin. After few minutes I came to know through a pop up that we have a new Interface which is called Windows Phone Desktop App which is right now available as Preview 3. You can download the new Windows Phone Desktop app Preview 3 from the mentioned below. We have the download right available which is very thin and easy to use.       [more]

So what are the features?

  • Sync music, photos, films, TV programs and podcasts from your existing Apple iTunes library or your Windows Libraries to your Windows Phone 8.
  • Automatically import pictures and videos you've taken with your phone to your PC.
  • See at a glance how much space you're using for each type of content, so it's easy to make sure you never run out of room on your phone.
  • Get your playlists on your phone. Find songs that will work as ringtones and add them to your phone.

System Requirements:

The basic system requirement is the desktop app will run on Windows 7 or Windows 8 and it will support sync for Windows phone 8 device only and not the older version of the devices.

So its not over yet, with the new Windows Phone Desktop app installation we can see a local Windows Store app been installed which will also be a sync tool for the Windows Phone 8 device. We can see the Windows Store app installed in the Modern UI list, opening the app will list the details of all the images, songs, videos in a nice Modern UI as shown in the screen below.
