Windows Phone 7.8 Update SDK is available for Download

 

Microsoft recently released the Windows Phone 8 SDK and it was announced the existing devices will not be supported with the newer version. So there is an update for the existing devices which is Windows Phone 7.8 which has a pretty decent list of features that are available in Windows Phone 8 and list of features can be viewed in this article “What you will get in Windows Phone 7.8 Update” This update is currently not available and most probably it will be made available in the early 2013 with the option to download directly as an update pushed to the device.   [more]


System Requirement:

Requires to be installed in Windows 8 or higher version and it should have Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone 7 SDK pre installed.

Where to download the SDK?

So if you development environment is already having the Windows Phone 7.1 and Windows Phone 8 SDK you are well set to go and download the update. Else you need to first install the SDKs in your local machine and then start the Windows Phone 7.8 update as it requires the machine to have the other SDKs in place before running this updated SDK.

The Windows Phone SDK Update for Windows Phone 7.8 adds the following to your existing Windows Phone SDK installation:

  • New Windows Phone Emulator 7.8 with 512MB
  • New Windows Phone Emulator 7.8 with 256MB
  • Windows Phone SDK 7.1.1 Update features which is basically installed while installing the SDK
