Azure Reporting – Configuring the Subscription for Reporting in Windows Azure

In this article we are going to see how to subscribe the Azure Reporting services using the Subscription code provided by Microsoft.

SQL Azure Reporting CTP, a beta version provided for developers to take an early look at the product before its been commercially released.

To get the CTP version we need to register with the product using the Windows Azure credentials and we get the subscription code from Microsoft as shown below

With the Subscription mail we will get the Subscription code using which we need to subscribe to the Azure Reporting Services online.

Now login to the management portal using the below link

We can see a screen like below. Select the Sign into Management portal at the top right corner

After selecting that sign in to management portal you will be asked for the Username and Password to authenticate the process as shown in the below screen

Once we gave the correct credentials and click on submit button will navigate to the main screen of the portal as shown in the below screen

Now navigate to the Reporting tab and we can see 2 options as shown in the screen below

  1. Sign Up – For the first time to sign up for getting the Subscription Code
  2. Provision – Once we got the subscription code, to configure the Reporting Service

Now click on the 2nd option Provision to proceed further since we already got the Subscription code from Microsoft.

After clicking on the Provision button, an agreement pop up window will be opened, select the check box and click on Next button as shown in the screen below.

Now we need to select the subscription from the drop down as shown in the screen below and click on Next button.

Now copy the subscription code from the mail which we got from Microsoft and place it in the Invitation Code text box and provide a password for authentication. Note that password is enforced with some policy

After providing from valid credentials for authentication, click on Finish button. It will take a few minutes to configure and show the mail screen as shown in the screen below indicating that the Subscription for Reporting is activated as shown in the screen below.

Now click on the Subscription it will navigate with a report id as shown in the screen below indicating that the reporting services are available.

Also the right side window shows the Webservice URL, with the username for the service.

So in this article we have seen how to configure the Reporting services for Azure with the Subscription provided by Microsoft
